7 Snowboard Maintenance Tips
Essential Maintenace Tips for Snowboards
Now that the season is underway you probably have to fine-tune your snowboard. We always suggest checking your hardware, bindings, and edges every time you ride. This simple preventative maintenance can save you and others from injury and broken equipment on the mountain. Besides the quick visual check and retightening your hardware, there are a few other steps you should take before riding. One of the biggest maintenance tips for keeping your snowboard carving smooth is the wax on the base of your board. After the first few outings, you should be looking to remove the existing wax and have it rewaxed. The number of times you should wax a board in a season depends on how long you snowboard each outing and what did you do while you were out there. For the average snowboarder, we say check it in the range of 4-6 times. For those riding over extra terrain like park features or off course boarding, you might have to check it more often. As you ride over park features and other debris it removes more wax than just riding over the groomed trails. If your wax gets thin you can purchase a rub-on wax to get you by a day or two. We have also seen people rub the non melted wax stick on the base of the snowboard to apply a thin layer to get by till the next hot wax. If you are looking to hot wax the board by yourself we have extra info on that and the additional information on these tips. See some of the additional tips at our snowboard maintenance and care page for before and after riding best practices.
